About me
I'm Josh, a 22 year old Computer Science major with 3+ years of tutoring experience. I grew up in Santa Cruz, CA, and have since moved down to San Marcos to attend CSUSM. A few of my hobbies are playing video games, going to the movies, watching Formula 1, and listening to music! My favorite subject in school was always math (shocker), and thus I've been able to continue that passion, aiming it at helping others.
My approach
Math, unlike many other subjects, has an immense amount of material that is constantly building on previous concepts. This can make students who fall behind struggle even more to catch up. My favorite students to work with are those who have the desire to learn and just need that extra little boost, or maybe just a change of face from where the information is coming from. Being able to really break down problems one-on-one and have them grasp the reason behind why we are doing what we do is what I find to be so rewarding. It is the classic aha! moments that we always hear about, but they truly are real, and achieving those is always my main goal. I've heard time and time again from multiple students that once they gain confidence with math, they tend to find it fun! This completely changes their perspective on learning and sets them up for future success.
